Lou was born in San Francisco to a 2nd generation Mexican father and mother. At the age of eight, he and his family moved to Orange County in Southern California.  His family was one of the first Mexican-American families to migrate to that area into one of the new housing tracts.  He grew up there, riding bicycles and playing among the orange trees, creeks and streams; wrestling and playing football in high school.

In grade school he began to draw episodic cartoons (while in class) much to the chagrin of his teachers.  In high school his artistic talents spread to sculpting.  College classes in art led him to the canvas where he began to paint in various mediums; water colors, acrylics, and oils.

Throughout his college and early working years he continued to paint and sculpt.  In 1987 he invented a product called POP-A-PLATE and started a company, Perfection Products, Inc., in which to market this and several ensuing products he invented.  He holds several patents for the work done in this period.

He and his family moved to the Nashville area of Tennessee and after selling the company in 2002, he decided to start a construction business, specializing in decks and sunrooms that continues today.  This was not foreign to him as he and a partner operated a framing business in Southern California for several years prior to his work as Chairman and founder of Perfection Products.

Lou has continued to draw and paint throughout his adult life.  His creations are unusual in that they all come from his imagination.  You won‘t find a landscape among his works.  They are vibrant with color, some are mysterious, some are just fun, and all are intriguing.
